1.9 tzd auto, stiff throttle pedal!

Post by oladiti »

Hi all,
Is there someone who’s experience the same issue b4.
I have a tzd 1.9 diesel automatic, and the throttle pedal is really too Stiff for my liking, hence the car is really slow at take off, press it too hard and it activates kick down!
I use to have a TGD of the same variant and the throttle pedal was lovely although the pedal snapped on the weld joint, had it re welded and it was brilliant, acceleration was lovely and car was a joy to drive, sadly a friend prized it from me....
Acquired this tzd a couple of years ago and in comparison to the TGD, the throttle pedal is a pain!
Someone please help?
Thanks
Ola

Usually just a case of lubricant down the cable just disconnect it from the pump and run some 3in1 down it.

Fit a new cable, IMO.

What is it like if you disconnect the kickdown cable ? And could it be the diesel pump lever seizing up.

Thank you all for you suggestions, I'm still tentatively getting familiar with the site, I will keep you posted on
the eventual solution. ALSO is there any difference between the speedo cable for manual and automatic, my speedo is not reading.
Any advice welcome THANKS all.

Same on both, cable is in two parts upper and lower tho no longer available as new,I have a few s/h usable ones if you need., It's usually the lower gearbox end that breaks.

Thanks rutter123, I will get back to you shortly,

I have known the cable drive gear to strip at the gearbox end might be worth checking that too, from memory I'm sure it's a plastic worm drive type affair prob got one kicking around should you need.
