How to remove the Exhaust, back axle and fuel tank from a BX the easy way:

and yes, the car is absolutely rotten, so no loss in breaking it.

Looks like some sort of bizarre BX torture device.

If I erected something like that in my back garden the neighbours would have a fit!!!!

I remember about 5 years ago i decided to break a £50 BX on my drive. For the whole month it sat on my drive the neighbours ignored me!!!!

Not a bad thing really!!!

If that had been a caption competition you would have had my vote Sleepy!

I don`t think you`d get me working underneath that car somehow and my bosses would have a heart attack if they saw it.
With great respect that doesn`t look safe at all, is there not an easier/safer way to do it?

I know... it looks horrendous doesn't it!

Actually, it's held up on a 1-tonne SWL chain hoist, and 2 seperate ratchet straps hooked onto various different parts of the floor, and around the overhead I-beam. (which is probably good for 10tonnes) I'd say it's as safe as any other method of raising a vehicle.

Given my lack of a 2- or 4-post lift, this is the easiest and fastest way to gain access to the underside of the car! It's either this, or trolley jacks and axle stands, which are not ideal on a gravel/stone driveway.

The only thing this does do is utterly ruin the rear bumper... not that I care as it was knackered anyway.

David, are you going to attempt removing the rear quarterlight window things - the one pictured looks in quite good nick - or are they a bugger to remove without breaking?

I can attempt to if you (or anyone else) needs one, but they aren't easy to remove intact, and these ones are fairly faded and a little scratched. They also have the vehicle registration etched into them.

Anyone want any other part of the car? It's not much longer for this world.

If you still have the "Lights On" warning whistle, it'll make a handy audible continuity tester/fault finder. But I can probably pick one up locally.

It's on the back of the steering column shroud, if you need it.
