Passenger door electric window fault

Post by rugmuncher »

Hi Guys. Here's a bit of a bugger. TZD Turbo. Passenger door window. It stopped working so I took out the motor and tried it in the offside back door ( same motor) and it worked fine. The motor from the back door works in the passenger door but only on the down button. Changed them back and it works on the up button but not on the down. Circuit tester shows power on both connectors to the motor. No power shown from the drivers door switch on the down side but shows on the up! So the window either goes up or down, but not both, depending on which motor is used. AAARRGGHH!! Is there anybody out there with any idea what's going on. I'm at my wits end. It doesn't seem to make any sense. Both motors work in both directions when attached to the rear door connector but only one way when attached to the front. Any help gratefully received.

Are you sure it's not a break in the wiring in the door shut, I've had a broken wire which caused an intermittent fault, could also be a faulty switch not necessarily the passenger side.

Hi Rutter. No I've not had a look at that but I will tomorrow. I checked the switch with one of the back ones, same result, so you might have it with a broken wire. Cheers Bud.

Hi Rutter. RE passenger window. Great advice on the broken wire. It was indeed a broken wire in the drivers door shut. Most Excellent advice bud. Great. Cheers, Mark. Rugmuncher.
