Hi guys
I'm changing the heater tap in my 16v, I've got the old one out and replaced with the the recon unit, and put it back in, however, I cannot slide the heater matrix back on the tap, the tap looks as it it's sitting about 2cm higher than the matrix side, or the matrix is sitting lower than it should.
Has anyone who has experience of changing the tap ever come across this? or has anyone got any ideas where it's gone wrong?
I've measured the new and old tap and they are the same, the rubber on the tap is right up against it as far as it will go, it's sitting through the bulkhead correctly. The matrix looks ok, there's not much room for it to go anyway. I've pulled the tap out and back in again, just in case it wasn't sitting properly but I've go the same problem. Brute force isn't working either and any more stress and I'll break the tap or the matrix.
Thank you
Brian

Re: Changing a heater tap
Ignore this. I got fed up and ground the rubber down a little bit, in the middle of the two pipes so the tap sits lower.
Tap and matrix back in now!
