Been on the LHM pipe job most of the day now and I`ve just discovered I`ve pulled one of the pipes off which goes under the engine somewhere just where you can`t see it. Can I **** get it back on or even see where it goes. 36 odd quid on a new return pipe which was a couple of inches too short. Made a fantastic extra it of pipe to cure the two smaller pipes and now because of the pipe underneath it`s pissing out LHM when going from high to medium.
If anyone wants a cheap BX with a long MOT and some tax let me know. I don`t give up easily normally but I`ve had ******* enough now.

This is why I give mine to my friendly specialists!! I'll do anything on the AX, and I could do most of the work on the BX.

But I don't because it WILL go wrong when I try and put it right

Well I've been farting about with mine today and I shouted very loudly at one point "Why didn't I buy a poxy 405!" But I stuck with it and it's sorted now. Stick with it, don't give up, you've spent the money on the bits so keep going. Walk away for 24 hours, as the big fella says, go get

and have another go tomorrow. You'll sort it, honest

Spent most of yesterday evening pulling my boler to bits because it took over 3 minutes to fire up instead of iinstantly - thought at first it was a relay I have in a glorified "or" circuit which makes teh boiler fire if it gets a demand fron the hot water cylinder "or" the room stat - thought it was my poxy maplin relay - nope after pulling it apart and puttiing it back together it worked - now doing the same again this morning.

Not related to BX I know - but just as bloody frustrating. Next stop thermocouple and FFD. and possibly the overheat device - though why it would be this I dont know as its a Primatic system and this is bypassed - nothing else I can think of would cause the boiler to react this way.

Woke up with a clanging head ache and still feel pissed so must have had more than I thought. I`ll have a quick look at the BX later to see if I can spot where the pipe goes back on. I have diagrams (thanks Ian) but am too thick to understand them properly. It`s a shame because my pipe extension bodge was a work of art, which in a way makes me more determined to carry on and get the bleeding thing fixed.
Has anyone else tried to replace the pipes from the LHM tank which run under the car and if so how the hell do you get to the union under the offside of the engine where the pipes run into? I can`t see that taking the o/s/f wheel off would make any difference as it doesn`t seem to help access, at least not whilst the car is on the ground. Are they accessible by garage ramps?

Acces can be improved by removing the bolt through the bottom engine mount, this wil let you swing the engine forward a bit then positon a bit of timbr between the subframe and the sump to keep it there, for ultimate access here remove the RH driveshaft and the ally bearing/mounting bit and lift the motor.

Cheers Stewart. I think I`ll let my local garage have a go at it and get them to fit the new pipe properly whilst they`re there. I`ll have to get him to do the diesel filter thing as well as it won`t tick over for long now and keeps stalling.
I`ve calmed down a bit now and in the cold light of day I`d be gutted to sell it as it`s sort of irreplaceable-at least to me anyhow.
I`ve just had the offer of a very cheap Vectra which would have tempted me to be honest but I can`t stretch to even that`s very fair price. I couldn`t be arsed trying to mend the BX again today hence getting the garage to have a look at it. I`d take it to Keith Davis but probably couldn`t afford the bill. My local garage is very cheap otherwise I`d happily let Keith do it.
