Its best to get them welded before they fully fall off, removing the front wing gives some access as does removing the hinge pins (I hung the door on the engine crane to avoid disconnecting all of the wiring)

A good bodyshop would be able to do it no problem.

I wouldnt be buying a tired 16V if it wasnt THE 16v I owned and regretted selling ever since, I had to sell it 1998 as it was a toy that was costing me a fortune on repayments and repairs, we had just lost dad and i had become the breadwinner and £150 a month approx was alot of bill money lol!

Am going to see it tomorrow so will keep you all posted!

He works for a VW garage-I can`t imagine a garage with more experience of bodywork repairs than a VW one

Mmm..... :? Not sure about that one. I think I'd rather be in the Volvo than the VW in a metal bending argument!

I was alluding to the probability of actually needing body repairs - having driven into something/someone :D Actually - I know four Volvo drivers and they're all exemplary drivers so I shouldn't really be casting aspertions - and I might well be taking over possession of a Volvo estate in the not too distant future...

I know. I'll keep quiet!

It's OK! I once was issued with a Volvo Turbo Estate as a company car and it's performance and stopping ability was actually quite good and it was excellent for the longer journey. :)
It's turbo didn't have the "after-burning" boost effect of the previous Saab it replaced however. \:D/

I had a Saab 900i (LPT) and that had oomph. I would still have it if it had had five doors...
