Cx engine in a bx

Post by arlever »

Can anyone tell me if a 2,5gti engine from a CX would go into a bx without too many mods ?
Thanks.

Don't know, but there is a bx out there that has a Xantia V6 engine think it was done by a couple of Eastern European guys, involved modding the engine bay and subframe to shoehorn it in.
It will fit if you have a considerable budget.

A 2.0 TCT engine from a 90s PSA car is probably the easiest lump to fit, giving maybe 180 hp with a little overboost. It would need an ML5 or similar transmission, which may require some mods to the subframe etc.

The ES9 is.a very good engine, but a bit bigger.

Size, weight and performance wise the 1.6 Prince THP engines would be a good upgrade, giving up to 250 hp with moderate tuning, but they have lots of control electronics which would be tricky to transplant

I have looked into engine upgrades, in particular the XM 2.0 TCT and apparently it's too tall for the BX engine bay which is a shame as I think it'd suit the BX. A 2.1td has also been fitted, again by an eastern european chap but it needed considerbale modifications to the body, steering parts and structural bits to make it fit!

CX engine bays are huge so not sure about the size of the engines and BX compatibility. Also isn't the n/a 2.5 around 135bhp and on the thirsty side? An 8v 1.9 BX GTI engine is 125bhp ish so not much gain. I wonder if you could fit the head, accessries and turbo from a TCT onto an 8v BX GTI engine? The electrics and ECU side of things would need fiddling with but it could be a fun project!
