Hi guys
Have just collected my 8v gti and have noticed that it doesn’t seem to rev that high before changing gear. It’s changing about 1000-1500 before redline. Is there any adjustment anywhere ???

Re: Auto gearbox on gti question
The gear shift speeds are adjusted by changing the tension on the kickdown cable.
See: http://web.archive.org/web/200704220043 ... utobox.pdf for the specs and official procedure. For your version, I think that the shift into 4th gear at light throttle should be at 69.5 km/h.
If the upshift speed is wrong, then follwo the procedure for adjustment, and if it is still wrong, adjust the cable slightly to get the change speed correct. Be aware that any issue that is affecting the power produced by the engine will be causing you to push the accelerator harder, which will upset the transmission change speeds.
