Wanted: alternator tensioning nut/bolt & wheel arch bung
Am in need of the rectangular bung that sits in the offside wheel arch and which you remove to access the engine mount nut.
Somehow I have also lost the combined bolt/nut that you screw the tensioning bolt into on the alternator for a 16v model (it may be the same on other models too?). It's basically a small cylindrical thing with a thread on one end and a threaded hole on the other. Such things probably have a special name but I'm not party to that...
Cheers
Rob

Re: Wanted: alternator tensioning nut/bolt & wheel arch bung
Is it #3 on this pic Rob, if so, it is called a capscrew on the parts list. Part number 96000783.
Someone may have one. Can't seem to find one online but a more thorough search may do it.

Having looked, they come up as a slider bolt or tensioner adjustment arm bolt for various vehicles so perhaps another make may fit. I imagine somone with the right tools could fabricate one if you get stuck.

Why is that pivot bolt so special - apart from having a plain shank section?

Re: Wanted: alternator tensioning nut/bolt & wheel arch bung
My interpretation of the diagram above is that bolt 4 screws into the threaded hole in the side of the "head" of bolt 3.white exec wrote: ↑Tue Oct 20, 2020 7:24 am Why is that pivot bolt so special - apart from having a plain shank section?

A slightly different arrangement on 1769 and 1905cc, but might be usable?

Re: Wanted: alternator tensioning nut/bolt & wheel arch bung
Hi Gents, I've got a box or three of spares, trying to find the right part for Rob and thought that I had, but not so sure now. The only image that seems to display is the parts drawing by white exec, above. I can see part number five but it doesn't seem to tie in with the description?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Re: Wanted: alternator tensioning nut/bolt & wheel arch bung
I think that the threaded-head bolt, and the studded bracket in the parts diagram, may be interchangeable. The both appear to do the same job with part #3.

If that means you cannot see my diagram and pic, perhaps there is something in your display options that could be changed. User control panel, board preferences and look at edit display options and display images within posts. Seems strange how one image shows though, if I change mine, it is all or nothing and just links.monkeyfeet wrote: ↑Mon Nov 09, 2020 9:14 am The only image that seems to display is the parts drawing by white exec, above.

Otherwise, your browser is not opening .jpg images because white exec's image has a different format. He appears to have uploaded them direct to the site where as mine are from an external host.
I'm the meantime.

Hi Dave,
On a work PC, must admit it's quite locked down. Anyway your image above is pretty clear!
