Re: BX 2.1TD ?
I think that the 2.1 transplant was more common on the Peugeot 205 and maybe 306.
I don't think that it is a trivial drop-in operation, as the 2.1 uses the bigger transmission and driveshafts which were not used on the BX. You also need to find space for an intercooler, and the cooling system is plumbed differently. An early Bosch 2.1 from an XM would probably be a n easier fit than a Lucas 2.1 from a late XM or Xantia.

I'm quite sure this has been done by an Eastern European guy,?
There are some alterations to the subframe to allow for the lower sump pan and gearbox or something along those lines.

Re: BX 2.1TD ?
The easier dropin is a 1.9TD from a 405 or ZX. Several people have done it very successfully. It entails just a camshaft change as far as I remember. The performance advantage is not great though as the BHP is still the same but the torque number is satisfyingly higher and noticeable on the road.
The Joy of BX with just one Citroën BX to my name now. Will I sing Bye Bye to my GTI or will it be Till death us do part.
