Spotted on car and classic, Sadly not my car, but it looks to be a good example
If only I had the space to park it.

Lovely! Tempted too. My parents had the v6 406 with the same engine (and very similar interior) in the 1990s.
It’s an automatic but there appears to be a clutch pedal in one of the pics, what’s that all about then?

Am considering getting one
Had one back in the day for a couple of months. Then went German , so don’t really know much about them - other than, to me they are cool.

Re: Off topic : nice looking xm up for auction
Cool, amazing, and guaranteed to keep the grey-matter active for years! A whole new ball-game with its ECU-controlled Hydractive suspension and fuel injection, plus many other built-in electrical additions for driver and passenger comfort.
For a look at what's there, take a look at Gabor's "The Citroen Technical Guide" on citroen.tramontana.co.hu (which describes each of Citroen's hydropneumatic systems), and goes into useful tips and detail for both XM and BX.
So, unless you have a very deep pocket, and a good XM-knowledgeable mechanic-electrician, to keep an XM on the road you will need to build up both an understanding of the car's workings and a quantity of the technical literature that supports it. Club-xm.co.uk was set up specifically for this, and the expertise there for all the XM variants is second to none.
Wide choice of engines: 2.0i and 3.0-V6 petrols, 2.1 and 2.5TD's, hatch and estate. But read up and research first! The wikipedia page on Citroen XM is a rather good read.
