The "yes we Can" attitude is great, not a workbench in site either.

I wonder how their trucks would fair under a UK hgv PMI check.

That same attitude used to abound in Spain, and famously in Malta, where there was iirc a 40% import duty on new cars, so the locals just made do with the old ones - Morris, Bedford... Small workshops were banging metal late into the night, and the single-decker buses were all 1950's. Vehicles also lasted quite well in Malta: not a lot of rust, and you couldn't drive far without encountering the sea. I think Mike knows something about that...

Case in point: A Maltese Morris Marina 1.5 diesel was on sale a couple of months back. Absolutely spotless. Grim, but spotless. And that I like a lot.

My time in Malta was mostly in 2016, by then most of the old cars and all of the old buses were gone form the streets, but could still be found if you looked for them.

I saw a few Marina 1.5Ds, They must have been very common once, as they seemed to be about the only survivors from the 70s.
