Probably the 1.9 N/A - though it will like as not only be either TGD or TXD trim.

Could be a super rare 19TZD non turbo auto! Oddly enough diesel autos have no revcounters and no digital clock but instead a analogue one in its place!

How Queer.

I was passed by a 1.9TZD last night on the motorway ( I was filtering left so had an excuse to be going slowly) driven by a nice looking lady with red curly hair ( I do so love redheads  ). Sadly she didnt seem that bothered about the sight of another BX on the motorway :(

To most people a BX is just another old car, the ones you see these days (which is rare) are normally a bit battered!. However they do seem alot more rust resistant to other cars of its age, when was the last time you saw a rustfree cavalier (sorry cavmad) or sierra!

Ignoring Mr Leech`s last remark ( ) didn`t someone say recently on here that they never made a 1.7 n/a auto?

I believe so, AFAIK the only diesel auto is the 1.9N/A. However its possible someone might have grafted a 1.7N/A onto a diesel auto box - in the same way its been known for people to fit 1.9TD engines into innocent TZD bodyshells
I do however recall an estate being offered as a 1.9TD auto on ebay a while back - whilst the engine & gerbox combination seemed genuine enough no one could determine if it was Citroen stock, or modified.

I think Vanny has posted about that and if I recall rightly he said it could just about be done but engine bay space was a little limited.

I have one of these in France and it is a delightful car to drive. I think I've seen it faulted elsewhere re the g/box as it don't change to 4th until about 40mph.......I've ever found it to be a problem. But the auto with a 1.9 n/a diesel is an almost perfect combination I'd say. And I don't mean its sluggish; its surprisingly quick( I was very pleasantly surprised when I test drove it) and I've never had less than 45 mpg out of it around town and the usual 55 on a run. It does appear slightly undergeared at M/way speeds compared to the old manual I used to have.

Who would fit a 1.9TD lump anyway :?: :?: :?: I found a website where a dutch chap shoehorned a 2.1TD into a BX complete with its manual box, from an XM, probably a lot more work than the 1.9 conversion which is very straightforward, things did look interestingly tight under the bonnet, if a TD auto was needed then Xantias might supply the neccesary donor bits, did they make a TD auto Xantia?

TZD 19 TD one of the few
Xantia Td estate, going soft
