Should I take the windshield off, yes or no?

The owner before last parked it under a tree for years. The rust did not look so bad at first, but after cleaning I discovered a hole. There are two more spots near the windshield that need attention too. I'm hesitant to take the windshield off. Is it still possible to patch up or do I have no choice?

The only way to repair this properly is to remove the screen and may reveal more rust along the bottom edge

This is quite common but not an easy repair.

Yes, sadly common and I'm going to have to face that dilemma on my own car.

Cut off a corner of the windscreen, repair, and replace the rest. I'm finding this much easier than taking the whole screen out, but my time is more constrained.

Thank you for all your replies! I 'll bite the bullet then and take it off, weld and paint it. Probably have it re-placed by a professional, since prices are reasonable.
