Windscreen Defrost Vent Removal

Post by Jugostran »

Hello!

I have a question which I am unable to find an answer to, even after some time searching. Namely, the defrost vent on top of the dash of my BX is, like many others, cracked in several places. One thing that crossed my mind is that I could remove it and reinforce it from behind in order to mask the existing cracks, and to prevent new ones from forming. However, as the topic states, I am not sure how I'd go about doing that. Is it held on with clips? Do the A pillar plastic trims need to come off? If anyone has done this, I'd appreciate any and all input and recommendations. I should add that my BX is a Phase 2.

Thanks!

It’s moulded into the rest of the dash, the only way to get it out is to remove the whole dash from the car.

I can’t remember what’s underneath it once it’s removed, but I think that it’s all glued together. You might be able to separate it with time & patience, but I’ve never messed with it, so I don’t know.

Hope that helps.

Ah, it really seemed to be a separate piece. That's unfortunate, I guess I'll try to stick it back together where it stands. Thanks!
