My newly acquired TD Estate is popping over to England to collect my spares box and stock up on tea bags which are ruinously expensive over here. I have a cracked but not leaking strut return,, a very small leak from the front HC op return and a split driveshaft gaiter for which there is a sticky boot in Poole for the trip back. I have enough t pieces and 5mm tubing but my 4mm turned out to be 5. Bother. The new strut returns are here, a pair of new driveshaft gaiters and rack gaiters in case I ever need them are on order but I couldn't find my 1 3/8 socket so ordered a new one as well as 7M of 4mm silicone tube to make a new octopus. The LHM looks like urine and one strut is beginning to leak but I have spares to try The iPod and satnav have been unobtrusively integrated into the car as have USB chargers and a voltmeter. The interior has cleaned up spotless and paint is on order to tidy up the coachwork. Once the parts recovery is done, I should be spending next weekend in the garage, going through 33 year old rubber parts. I shall be recording the lengths of the octopus pipes which, apart from the doseur return should be the same for a right hooker. I shall make a posting about this as repairing it in its three sections is rather easier than fitting a new octopus and much cheaper at under 50 quid .Re: Introducing Grogan, (see general chat.)

I spent nine months looking for an estate but couldn't find a decent car. One night I came back from a meal out and checked Leboncoin to find a TD estate, 159 miles away with a new CT and at a very reasonable price indeed.
By sheer luck, this car found a BX enthusiast. I took the back bumper off for a cleanup. This is the state of the rear wings:

Even the extra tank strap is unmarked. I can't believe my luck. Certainly it has cosmetic issues and it needs a good going through ( which it is getting) but it is very original for now. The plan is to bring it back to decent order and then set about finding an Aircon rig as I would like this car to be the daily.
Years ago when I spent a lot of time under BXs, my cars often had names beginning with "Gr". Following on from Grace, a CX, Greyhound, a TZI estate and Grolliffe, my air conditioned TZD, named after an ice dragon ( clerical grade), this one earned her name because she will soon be an altered Image. I have already done my heater mod - there are more tweaks to come, starting with a temperature gauge, without which an XUD is, in my view, incomplete. Retirement is wonderful, but I needed a BX to play with. I'm a very happy Tom.
