Citroen BX TZD Turbo Trunk light

Post by SvenTZDTURBO »

Hello,
im new here and looking for some help.

I have a 1987 Citroen BX TZD Turbo and the issue im having is that the trunk light does not work, it stopped working one day and i cant it to work since that day.

So far ive traced the positive wire from the switch for the light to a connector behind the rear left tail light, there is no power on the positive wire, ive checked the ground and its fine.
All of the fuses are fine and the other illumination works such as the glove box light, the interiror lighting and the map light, the other thing that doesnt work is one of the two horns but i think this is unrelated altho it stopped working on the same day....

Any advice and suggestions are welcome :D

From what I remember, it runs up the ribbon cable that comes
From the fuse box to the back of the car. It’s notorious for getting damaged under the rear seats on the LH side. I’d start at the basics, make sure that the bulb & switch are working correctly, as the switches do fail, then proceed to check the rest of the circuit. It could’ve blown a fuse & then be showing neutral where live should be, especially if it is the ribbon cable that’s shorting out. Unfortunately, I’ve not currently got access to my BX to check the circuit for you.

Hope that helps.
