Accelerator Cable Compatibility

Post by panky »

The accelerator cable on DKK gas come adrift from the pedal for the second time, which is most annoying. I've secured it with a cable tie for now as the little plastic prongs are no more and the cable end slips out of the pedal easily. I've searched for a replacement but can't find an exact match for the GT but plenty for the diesel engines which look, judging by the illustrations, to be the same,
Can anyone please confirm that this is the case or point me in the direction of the correct cable. Chevronics is equally vague with the description and I balk at paying over £50 for one.

Thanks in anticipation

I’m not sure about the GT, but the GTI cable is longer than the diesel, so you might have issues getting it to fit. The physical ends are the same, so you might get something to work.

Hope that helps.

I drilled through a bolt and fed the cable through that. You'll need an inner cable with a removable nipple for the engine end though. Total cost less than £1

Thanks chaps very helpful ideas, I like your work around Rob much more robust than the original.
I've just managed to get a star washer pushed on with the cable tie as back up for now. I'll check out the GTi cable and Rob's idea too.

The throttle cable kit for TU/XU engines is almost universal. They work fine.

Can't find a Lecoy one anymore, but there seems to be a First Line (shudder) alternative:

Thanks Rich. I've ordered one.
I've also got the bits for RobC's workaround so I'll see which one works best.

Just tripped over one of my old bundles here, funnily enough. It's a Lecoy 2268.

That was nice of them - the seller decided to cancel my order even though it had, supposedly, already been dispatched and blamed me for cancelling. Bloody cheek :x
There's plenty on ebay so I guess i'll start looking again
