BX GTi 16v questions

Post by KennieSA »

Greetings from South Africa

Hope you're all well.

I have one of few if not the only BX 16v in south africa, and it's a 1987 year model

Now.. that being said, spares are rather hard to find for it here.

What I want to know is:

What discs can I use alternatively on the front of the vehicle, and are rear discs unique to the BX?
What parts can I take off a peugeot that'll keep the old beast going?(service components)

Finding a clutch this side has been a mission, and it appears I have to resort to importing the thing (local suppliers keep telling me they cannot import it)
Also need to track down a timing belt kit and a seal kit(got some oil leaks)

IF by some slim chance, anyone here knows something about getting parts to south africa at less than bank breaking prices... I'd be very thankful haha.

The front disks you'll find on several PSA models, ZX, Berlingo, Xantia, 206, 306, 405 etc.
Ø 266mm, 20,4mm thick rotor, 27,5mm height. Be careful not to get the ones with a 34mm height, they will not fit!
Rear discs are BX specific Ø 224mm 7mm thick, Xantia's have 9mm thick ones.

The BX 16v clutch has the same diameter as you'll find on XU10 engines (215mm), the clutch bearing might not be always the same, check Catcar.

I would check Catcar.info for part numbers, there are quite a few shared bits with Peugeot models.

Timing belt kits might be a little difficult to find, they are available in France
