Philip, have you considered Sleepy`s car? If your brother wants a nice, cheap economical well looked after car he won`t do much better for the money.

I mentioned that to him too. I met him last night and he was full of praise for my BX, but it's his partner who will be the sticking point. She wants a small car...

You can imagine my reaction.

What is it with Women and small cars! Anything bigger than a Micars far too big!

Recently ive sold 3 new Polos with parking senors! I mean parking sensors on a car the size of a Polo  , and yes they were all to lady customers!

What`s the biggest seller of all the cars at your dealership Tim? I`ve heard the new Golf is going well (not that I like them, I think they look about cheap and Seat-ish) at the moment.

I sell more Polos than Golfs at the moment, the new Golf is a much better drive that the previous model, the build quality isnt bad and the styling is down to the individual, I do like it myself.

Seat is part of the VW Group hence the similarities.

Aye, I knew Seat (along with Skoda etc) are part of VAG. I wonder if the Polo sells well because I recall recently it is now the same size as the original (Mk1) Golf? I`m sure other manafacturers products are the same, probably as the result of wanting to have the roomiest `small` car on the market.
I`ve had older (much older!) Polo`s in the past and aside from an awful braking design or system they`ve been bloody good little runners to be fair.
They hold their value well second hand too and as there appears to be a huge market for small cars now I think this will continue.

Agreed old Polos besides crap brakes (due to no servo on pre 1990 models) are a tough little car which are more rust resistant than the Ford/Vauxhall offerings of the time!

The new Polo is as you said as big a Mk1 Golf is more than adequate as a small family car and will be worth 50% of there original purchase price in 3 years subject to you not buying a crap color or a bog basic one. :D

On a different note if any memebers of the BxClub is interested in a NEW Volkswagen I can offer you upto 10% discount (excpet Golf GTi/R32 and the new Eos range) guys.

Tim, if you switch allegiance to Vauxhall and get me a deal on a new Vectra 3.2 GSi or an SRi diesel for a stupidly cheap price then let me know!

Tim, as current custodian of the BX mascot (who`s happily tied up in my yard eating me out of grass and old clothes) you might want to think about your last remark
Incidentally I`d rather shove wasps up my nether regions than buy a Golf! Sorry mate, I`m not trying to trade insults with you!
