Only a 'certain number' brought into this country? How many? Can't be more than a few hundred? Ian, Tim one of you'll know, I'm sure...

I seem to recall a figure of less than 150 in the dim and distant past

Don`t sound like huge jobs, got to be worth saving even just for it`s rarity value?
Thankfully it`s miles away from me

Very low miles and a easy fix, that would tempt me to buy a estate! (cavmad faints!)

I would be tempted to get that rather than my estate if it was not such a awful colour.

2020s - A shinier red TZD estate has replaced scruffy 19TXD "Red Shed".

Exhaust would have to be a temporary repair for MOT pending a way to get around the several hundred pounds a 4x4 exhaust costs. Otherwise should be straightforward. I like Olympic Blue too.
Back on two wheels and pedal power for the moment.

FYI, I may be slightly off on my figures here but seem to remember that 691 4x4 estates were imported to the UK, and just over 300 GTI 4x4's.

Can't be many left now

Good point Jayboy, as for the exhaust it would be worthwile getting a stainless one made up for it at one of these while you wait places for a couple of hundred quid!

Friend did that on a 800 Vitesse and it was cheaper than a mild steel one.
