16v Wheels.

Post by tim leech »

Would like some phase 2 16v wheels (grey ones) to go on my Gti as Phils car looks real prettty with them on. I have some VGC 8v Alloys with 2 BRAND new Yokohamas, one budget (CENTAUR) and one goodyear all with good tread to swop/px or will buy outright if cheap enough!

Not in a rush and dont want to spend alot!

I'm after some good condition alloys, so if no one sorts out a deal let me know & i can pay cash (depending upon how much you want of course).

Cheers

I just paid £80 for 2 new yokohamas so it will be slighly upward of that. Will have to wait until I get some 16v wheels then let you know.

Can someone please post some pic`s of 16V wheels and `standard` alloys? I`m confused as to which is which and I MIGHT be tempted to sell my very tidy alloys if I can find out what model they are off!

16v wheels Billy are two tone on phase 2s meaning there gunmetal grey with a silver rim and there wider too 5.5J as opoosed to the 5j on the standard alloys.

To confuse things even more the series one 16v had the wider rim but thet were all silver! :D

Oh, that`s me confused then! The wheels on the 1.9TD are silver and look the same as the anthracite ones (I think) but obviously are a different colour. What does that make them then, 8V Gti wheels I assume?

Yep or early 16v wheels 1987-1989, 1990 Model Year cars (all models were facelifted with new wheltrims, smoked rear lights etc, 16v had the new bumpers and rear spoiler treatment) Phase2 16v had the anthracite wheels with silver rims fitted althought they were the same design as befor just a different colour.

Does that clairfy things lol!

You can also tell what wheels they are by what size tyres are fitted, the GTi 8v wheels being thinner so had 185 section tyres and the 16v which were a bit wider so had 195 section tyres instead. :)

So if I sprayed the centres anthracite they would look exactly like 16V ones then? It wouldn`t be too difficult as they`re in near mint condition.
