hoop spoiler woes on my tgd

Post by pikey »

hey there, i have just bought a tgd turbo and while working through the usual list of bx problems (glovebox hinges, stuck sunroof and broken heater temp control-all as required) i noticed that the stud that fixes the spolier to hatch had sheared on one side.
i have removed the spoiler and the remains of the stud are pretty much flush with the spoiler. does anyone have any experience with this, i'm guessing its a case of carefully drill out the remains and then retap the hole but any easier solutions would be welcomed

cheers fellas

You must have an unusual steady hand to drill out the remainings
If the drillbit slides - it will immediately penetrate the glassfiber

The bolts were fitted dry - and even the smallest amount of salty mist will make it stick solid on the captive nut moulded in there. Try a welder - and the glassfiber melts/burns

Mr B's advice is the best - from sad experiences - believe me
If you fear a loss during animated driving - use a long selftapping screw between the 2 original ones
