TZD Breaking, I think??

Post by Adam »

Right, after careful consideration I think the TZD is being broken, I was too keen when buying it and more and more things have come to my attention, work is picking up and I haven't got the time to sort everything. I have spent quite a few £££'s already and lots of time and this is the last thing I wanted to be doing.

I started stripping for the head gasket today and some rust fell from the arch, after careful prodding there is now a hole, a large hole on the inner wing from under the o/s sphere to under the LHM reservoir and possibly further

Looks the same the other side.

It has ABS and aircon and does drive although the cooling system is pressurizing and there is an LHM leak.

If anyone wants the whole car to maybe finish I want £200 for it, I have receipts for nearly £300 for parts I've already replaced and the £150 purchase price.

I'm feeling a little sorry for myself and have put a lot of time and effort into the car already and would like someone to finish it because it will be a nice car and drives wonderfully, it has a very nice clean low milage Meteor interior (red stripes) that looks the nuts too.

If not then P.M. for parts wanted and we can start breaking it up to keep some others on the road and try and recover some of my costs.

Any more info wanted please ask.

That's a real pity. Everybody thought that the shell was in decent order but a stuffed HG is pretty well the kiss of death if the rest isn't so good.

Right chaps, Oscar has lifted my spirits a bit this evening :D and has suggested before I make any hasty decisions I get a price for the welding, if reasonable then I owe it to myself and the car to carry on with the project but set myself a more realistic time scale. I'm going to try and get a quote this weekend, if in the opinion of the bodyshop people is it's not worth doing then we'll carry on as this post and the people who have called parts will get them. See everyone sunday!!!!!

 I'm really gutted for you mate, after all the initial excitement and the work you've put in so far. I know we can't save 'em all but let's hope you can get a good price for what needs doing.

I'm with Oscar on this one. Inner wing repairs are very common on BXs of this age. The learning curve is steep and can be reasonably expensive but you should get a fine car out of it.

:D Chaps, I'm not done, :D

THIS CAR WILL BE SAVED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D :D :D

Bearing in mind, with the exception of welding... I will do the work myself...

I've got a price for the welding, if it's just the head gasket i've got a price. If the head needs skimming, i've got a price (free). If I need another head, i'll find one (if this needs skimming, it's free), if I need a new block, I have a price for the engine, all in all now time isn't an issue because my mum is great and is letting me use the drive and garage, I have a car to get to work and all is good. My enthusiasm is back, my tonsilitus has gone and i'm looking forward to sunday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks again bouys!!!!! I really appreciate all the encouragement, support and advise you give. :D :D :D :D

This car isn't being saved at all!!!!! :( :(

However, I have bought Graculus, a TGD Turbo in Triton Green, which is being restored with the parts from the TZD, however there will be spares, some have been called already by Tom and Oscar but I can remember what, :?

Mr B, front ABS sensors are yours if you still want them?
Ian, i'm going to keep the aircon rig for a retro fit into Graculus, the plip and reciever has already gone (sorry sleepy).

Anything, once I've got a list together of what i'm using i'll let you all know and then request away.

I nearly gave up on the BX bug for a while but im back!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for your posting. Correct name for your car is "Graculus", BTW. Suggest that you type "dragons friendly society" into google which will explain all!
Kind regards, Tom.
