The Maiden Voyage

Post by ken newbold »

Had my "new" estate out today, done a 200 mile round trip with no problems to report other than there are 2 panel bulbs out that I didn't know about.
The fuel guage light could be out for some time, the other one behind the heater knobs will be fixed at the weekend.

How many BX's did I see? NONE as usual. Partly my own fault for not calling in at Deepdale near Driffield. Dont know if anyone knows this place but the guy who runs this service and repair centre really hates BX's
He has a yard with literally dozens of them in there, none of which are likely to run again. He will sell parts off some of them but only after they've stood there a few years and totaly dropped apart. Last time I was there, he had a superb Hurricane on the forcourt for £893, it would break my heart to go back now and see it dumped in the back with all the rest.
I called in one day and got a sunroof deflector off one for £2 (must have been a good day) but another time I tried to buy a set of seats from a rotten MK1 but he wanted £100 for them. :o

His brother owns the Citroen mains dealers in Driffield (Broach Hill) which is why he gets so many cars XM's and Xantia's. When you consider what he'll be paying for these ex-part exchange vehicles, I reckon he's on drugs or something.

I'm short of one bit of trim missing from the rear bumper on my estate, no doubt he'll have one and as there are no estates in the yards round here, I might have a run back out there on saturday morning, only this time I'll take camera, it has to be seen to be believed.

It's the rubber strip that sits in the part of the bumper attatched to the tailgate.

Clips aren't a problem but I'll have a look round at Stratford on Sunday and if there's nothing there I'll send you a PM with my details. Many thanks and good luck with the Auto.

Meteors I think would be fitted with the almost flat trims with the 4 bolt heads showing and the removeable clipon cover for the valve. :?

I thought Meteors had the same trims as the TXD? Those cheap looking things that look like they came from Halfords
Kill Jester.

Well spotted Kitch, your correct, the TX series and Meteor did have the same wheeltrims, which notoriously fell off within 5 minutes! Hence why they normally have aftermarket ones.

The ones on Kens car are the TZ series ones which are very nice.

Well, after this weekends outing, she's now covered her first 500 miles with no problems.

I topped up the fuel today to check the mileage.

434 miles since my last fill up on 7.24 galls = 59.94mpg :D

So the maiden voyage is now well and truely over.
