16v Citroen BX

Post by Martin W »

Citroen BX 16v

H Reg Citroen bx (1990) - Same engine as Mi16 (1.9 Alloy block) and still drives well.

Registered in my name and I have the V5 along with all past MOT's.
Tax and MOT expire at the end of October
Covered 25000 miles (all motorway in the last 14 months)
Engine has never let me down
Milage reads 104500

Good points
  • Engine does NOT leak any oil or water and does NOT burn oil.
  • Serviced every 8000 miles
  • Cambelt/water pump changed in December 2005 by DES Developments
  • Hydrolic pump belt changed in September 2006
  • 2 new front tyres (Yoko 539's)
  • Good interior
  • Suspension still rises to its highest position

Bad points
  • Clutch cable has snaped
  • Sunroof leaks when it rains
  • Does not start, possibly due to a short in the electrics but was running fine up until 2 weeks ago
  • Cracked windscreen
The car is currently on my parents drive (where it is registered) so needs to go asap, looking to sell the car as a whole so will need picking up on a trailor.

Looking for £500 but not sensible offer refused. Located in Croydon.

Any inspection/questions welcome, PM or e-mail me.

The body look lovely mate, please dont sell it to a peugeot boy racer who will rip its heart out and scrap it!

I would try and get it running at least it can be towed.

I'll have a look when I can but its dark when I get home and work most weekends so dont really get a chance to see it in daylight. I've held off for a few weeks but I've not had a chance to have a proper look and I would rather put my new car on the drive

Understandable, 16vs are disappearing fast as they are being caniibalised for spares by meatheads shoehorning them into 205s not realising the bx16v is a damn good car in its own right.

This was nearly mine, for that price it definitely would have been mine! Really hope it goes to a good home Martin. Wish I could afford another...

:edit: if anyone in the North West fancies joining the 16v fraternity and keeping me company, do it! You know it makes sense... this one is a really sound car from the looks of things.

Back up for sale

Car now starts and can be seen and heard running, does not smoke or leak any fluids. Didn't start before because a plug was loose on the battery connection.

As said before advertised for £500 but not reasonable offer will be refused. If not sold by this weekend it will be put on ebay where it WILL sell.

If it sells this weekend someone might get a bargain :D

Hi Martin, I realise that you obviously won`t want to spend money on it if you`re going to sell it but I think a replacement clutch cable would help. Even if it does sell on eBay I think you`ll attract more bids as if it drives it will save someone money in transporter costs.
Just a suggestion mate so please don`t flame me for it!

I agree with you but I transfered the insurance onto my new car so getting it to a garage is on the cards anymore. On another note I do have a new clutch cable in the car :D

With respect you'd be a fool not to make an effort with that. Its clearly in good visual condition and a few bob spent here and there could double its value if its as tidy mechanically.
Right now you'll make £500 if you're lucky and the car will probably be torn apart for spares by a chav.

Yeah I'll have to ask him why! He hasn't even looked at the GT for a month now, its just sat in the garage.
I'm not after this though, I've rescued two this year, plus my own. Someone elses turn
