I have a Xantia chris!, there not a BX but a nice car all the same! Mines a petrol 1.8 and reasonably frugal and very quiet and smooth, looks alot of car for £250 thats all Im saying. Agreed the fuel economy wont be great but neithers my 16v and certainly not my V8! lifes too sgort to work tho!
Hope were not going to start a " the bx is the only citroen worth having arguement again"

I know the Xantia was a replacement for the BX and was far more normal and less quirky than our beloved Bxs but too many people say its not a proper citroen and overlook its many good points (space and build quality were far better), in some ways it was a better car than a BX but in individuality I agree its not.
Hence why I have both.

Build quality definately but not sure i agree about space. I find the BX has a much more useable load and compartment area. Probably because its 'squarer'.
Am guessing the Xantia is a much safer car too. I always felt the impression of safety in mine.
Would definately buy another but this time an HDI and get the Lexia diagnostic tool.

To be honest no, the earlier Xantias (like mine
) had a crap crash rating of 1 star, but I agree they do feel sturdy. There alot more room on the back of a xantia but I agree the bx feels very light and airy for what is a smaller car than a sierra cavalier etc.

I have to confess the idea of a Xantia diesel estate is one I`m warming to. Not many (any?) BX estates about at the mo and I`ve seen a 2.1TD Xantia estate at a reasonable price which would be great for towing.
Now the motorbike idea has been blown out by the missus I`m pondering on either a newer truck (have spotted a nice 814 Merc for sale) or a decent diesel estate and the transporter trailer I`ve been offered.

Vauxhall apologist.
