Rear Spoiler Fiting

Post by OwenS »

Hey. Could anyone advise on fitting the GTI/TZD rear spoiler to the BX. Thank you.

Yes. Don't. The paint will flake off and your fuel consumption will rise.

paint flaking off seems to be dependant on colour! White ones seem NOT to flake and silver ones ont flake but go VERY funny! As Jon says there are held on with 2 M10 'bolts' but they are more like 'Long' chip board screws (me thinks 3+" long) and a load of panel advesive. Go at them with a kettle of boiling water and a fine cable if taking off a donor!

There are studs glued/moulded into the spoiler from what I remember - as Tom and I found when one broke during removal from a TXD, leaving the stud base embedded in the spoiler.

This particular TXD spoiler is a red one, and anyone wanting it, in the hope of removing the remainder of the stud, should contact me by PM: it'll have to go soon.
Back on two wheels and pedal power for the moment.
