I may be wrong but I think some of them are the larger type, about 6mm. It may be a good idea to buy a few spares for the toolkit. I always drop one of them, what ever job I'm doing.

Hi Charlie - I think you'd be safest getting more 4.5s than anything else. Having a variety around is always a good idea.

If you're trying to fix a leaking FDV and think it might be the seals, do check the sides of the FDV for leaks first, as any leaks from the plugs there will most likely need a rebuild of the unit - or a swap if you've got a decent FDV unit spare. [/img]

well have changed the pump and the fdv with recon ones from gsf and guess what???

still no power steering :(

that only leaves two options ram or pinion valve

i think a new ram is £80, simple to change so i'm told

has anyone rebuilt a pinion valve (kit from gsf?)

trouble is mot ran out last week and i've got limited time with work commitments to spend on the car....

trying to put off a trip to european motors but...

btw seal sizes for the fdv are one 4.5 and four 6mm

How could the ram be at fault if it isn't leaking?

Pinion valve seals can fail, sometimes one side goes before the other - leaving uneven steering. New seals are apparently very difficult to fit. There are some instructions and experiences on here or Frenchcarforum.
