Tell him to come 'round here and say that

Citroen literature states Maximum speed for a 1.9 D is: 100mph (TGD) or 102mph depending which brochure you look at.

That is, 160.0 km/h to 164.15 km/h. Now - if the BX in question was being driven flat out going down a steep mountain road I doubt it would go much faster. 190 km/h is - to use the vernacular - utter bollo**s. And you tell him I said that :D

The most I ever saw out of my old TZD Turbo was 110mph (177kph). I've had the Capri up to 135mph (217kph) and it still had more left to go, but I was too scared to push it any further! It is a 22-year-old car, after all!

I was somewhere close to 108-110 in our British miles per hour in a TZD hatch I rescued from London a while back, too daft to know what that equals in kilometers sorry. Aside from that I`ve not tried to take any of mx BX`s flat out.

Well, it was legal and wasn`t registered to me so what did I care

To be fair another bloody quick car was one of my old BX estates, 1.9 n/a diesel.
I believe the engine lives on in WannaBx`s car. Belting motor that was, some special fuel and an everyday Italian tune-up just made it fly!

I've taken a Mk1 CX Gti (the one I was telling you about Dean) to 110, didn't push it any further than that.

I've got the magic 100 mph out of my GSA going downhill, and it still felt like it had more in reserve!

Took my old '89 Nissan Micra 998cc to an indicated 95 on a downhill stretch of dual carriageway  !

My TZD estate managed 117MPH (indicated) against the wind and 119 on the return leg very recently, on the flat. That is 190KPH from a good Turbodiesel. That tallied with the Tacho reading and the motorway markers. The scary thing is that the pump has never been touched! The injectors have however been cleaned and the car is well looked after. Citroen quoted 108 when new but they need 160 000KM to loosen up the engine. Then they go much faster. There is another 20 KPH to be had.
Best ever downhill from a 1.9D was about 175, (109MPH) 170 was often seen before the French started getting tight on speeding!

I took the 19RD estate to 106mph (GPS) down a hill on the day of collecting it. The smoke screen it created was impressive, I went home satisfied.

Best the 16v has ever done was 143mph....no GPS but it bounced in fifth gear. Thats as fast as it can go technically.
Wasn't downhill, but it did get a long run up.

My valver will bounce on the limiter in fifth so I assume it's the same as Kitch's....
