(Top two)

The owner of the top one knows the correct colour and has bothered to change the LHM, nice set of TZ wheeltrims too!

Tim,

Is the 17TGD in blue a non turbo and if so were non colour coded bumpers standard for this type (I had a 17RD before) or is that just the wrong set on there??

I quite like that one and only 42 miles from me...

A 17TGD is indeed a 1769cc non turbo diesel without power steering , no rear sunblinds, more basic herringbone upholstry, no revcounter and no sunroof unlike a 19TGD. All MK2 BXs had bodycolured bumpers so I dunno whats happened to the ones on that one.

A TGD turbo is basically a 19TGD spec with a 1769cc turbo engine fitted.

Rust in the inner wings, boot floor, hinges on both front door, headgasket leakage (white smoke) oil in water and vice versa, rear arm bearings (look at the the back wheels and see if they are straight or leaning in at the top), hard spheres, (test drive it and see if it rides smoothly or has a hard bouncy ride), Worn accumulater sphere, should tick once every 20 secs or so, rise the suspension up and down and see how smoothly and quickly it does it. Groaning from the front struts when raised to maximum can be fixed easily by lubrication.

As its a 1769Turbo it should pull well, and have a impressive midrange torque, look for clouds of smoke out the back when you accelerate hard though. It should go into gear easily enough including reverse as long as your stationary and the clutch should be reasonably light and have a mid way biting point, I doubt it will have ABS but if it does make sure it works. Check also for split CV boots by turning the car on lock with the suspension on "high", there a cheap fix but if left will knacker your CV joints.

Interior wise, look for evidence of leaking sunroof, collapsed drivers seat (easy to replace), broken glove box and no doubt the wobbly speedo (normal) and I know diesel rev counters give trouble also.

Have I missed anything?
