Puncture, and no jack.
In any other (conventionally sprung) car, I would have been stuck.
Driving home from wales last night at about midnight and going round a left-hand bend at speed, the BX oversteered quite dramatically. Bummer... soft tyre on the OSR. Pull in to a layby, and have a look. Sure enough, tyre is almost flat.
Wheelbrace: cleck.
Spare tyre, with pressure and tread: check.
Can I undo the wheel bolts: check.
Jack:
err.
Jack?
Nope. Not to be found. Arses.
Given that I've called the RAC out twice recently for a stranded Fiat, I really didn't want to call them again, plus it's midnight, and I'm tired and want to get home. Plan B:
Walk down the (thankfully very quiet) road, and found a pot-hole. A big pot hole. Return to the car, and drive it very slowly down to the pot hole. Drop the NSF wheel into the hole. Select maximum height, and hey presto, the OSR lifts a good 3" clear of the ground. Lovely. Wheel changed, select normal height, OSR drops back to the ground, drive car out of pothole.
Ordinarily I would complain that the council are rubbish for not maintaining the roads. In this instance, I was rather glad of that pothole.
... and I've now found a BX jack from one of the many other cars I have here.

Good work!
I find the drop kerbs in most housing estates work well too.

A BX will run on 3 wheels only, but it would have to be the NSR that is missing (opposite side to the driver and main weight of the engine), and you have to drive on max height for it to lift the suspension hub off the ground.
I did consider this, but it would have meant moving the good wheel from the NSR to the OSR, which would have meant I needed a jack anyway.
Plus, I still had plenty of miles left to drive, and driving on max height isn't great for any kind of distance.

And just another reason why we like the
Reminded me of when I first got a BX back in 1991, Only had the car three days it being January was a bit dark on way to work. Coming down the A38 approaching the Tamar Bridge heard this rumbling noise which I put down to the Rumble Strips on the Bridge approach. When I got to the small Roundabout at the start of the Bridge, which some of you may know is where the Toll Booths are located?
I felt the steering a bit weird and the noise was increasing. Bugger is 630am its dark and I am now on the Tamar bridge when it had Three Lanes. Exit to Saltash is closed so ends up stopping at the mouth of the Tunnel
Good place to stop emergency Phone and Traffic Camera Anyways they closed the lane so I did not get wiped out and waited for the RAC. The flat was the Drivers side Rear I had got my car up on the grass verge and when PC Plod arrived a bit of a safety window to change the tyre.
Well thats when I found out that changing a rear on a BX is not a easy task But lucky for me our friendly Booby on the beat owned a BX and had that wheel changed in minutes
Always been grateful to that officer of the Law, considering the traffic chaos I created on a dark morning at 630am

The most original use for a Welsh pot hole I would say.

Nice thinking and good work David. When my truck had a blow out on a bypass a while ago the bottle jack wouldn`t go underneath it. Drove it up onto a high kerb and presto hey! one wheel changed quite easily. Except for the fact I didn`t have an allen key to undo the fancy steel wheel trim and had to smash it off with a crowbar. I bet there`s still a few pints of my blood in that layby
