Strange Noise + speedo wobble / clicking

Post by AdamH »

The other morning, comapletely out the blue, I had a strange scraping noise, not from the engine ( it did not make the noise when stationary and I revved the engine) , but once I started to move, it only lasted 3-4 minutes, and thern went away, but I then noticed a clicking noise and that the speedo is now wobbling, I suspect the speedo cable, although I am still alarmed at the volume of the scraping noise. I happened again the following morning, although, interestingly when the car had been left parked for thre hours it did not do it again when we started driving, does anyone have any thoughts?

Sounds like the drive spindle in the speedo head mate, mine does it too!

Whip it out and slap some machine oil init, that may shut it up for a while!
