MoT for another year!

Post by Oscar »

And no advisories! Bloody brilliant.

Particularly proud of this one as it's the first time I've gone over the car getting it ready for MoT, as opposed to just booking it in and hoping.

Swampy has had a wash and polish as a reward.

Happy.

Congrats Oscar! It's always good when you get a tick without advises.

Nothing more satisfying than walking away with that cert first time

So lucky that you get the test just once a year rather than the 6 month drama I live with.

Incidentally would you believe a leaking CV boot does not fail out here

Last one I had was nz$40 roughly 14 quid thats probably gone up now with the new testing of emisions. Might sound cheap to you but our wages are lower. Its that stress atached to it being done twice a year. Comes around to quick.

Funny thing I noticed that both my Cars are due in March

It's more than £50 here now, and if it fails and you take it away for more than a day to have it fixed then you have to pay £50 again for the retest.

???? WTF?

You have 10 working days to fix a non serious failure, and a free re-test, as set out by VOSA...

Cheers

Chris, you need to take your eyesight along for an MOT :D

According to this VOSA statement,
http://www.vosa.gov.uk/vosacorp/newsand ... edures.htm
You get a free retest if you fix a non serious failure within 1 working day.
You get a half price (maximum) retest if you bring it back within 10 working days.

WIERD! Sod's law dictates I cant find a failure sheet now, but I was sure it said free re-retest for non-serious failure within 10 working days. I'm getting old

SORRY!
Not enough Carrots and too much looking at Fiona Fitsnicely I guess......

What I said about the £50 retest was wrong as well. It was true when I had my MOT last April. Back then the "new" rules required them to do a full retest if you took it away to fix a serious fault, hence the full charge. The rules have now changed for the better from the DIY perspective, because they now only have to do a partial retest if you bring it back within 10 days. This probably means that in practice many of them will actually offer a free retest.

I didn't know the rules had changed again recently, so thanks for flagging it :D

This is very useful info as my MOT is due in a couple of months and I remember from last year that the free retest had all but dissappeared.
