Good F reg 19RD estate going cheap

Post by Kitch »

Don't panic, its not THE F reg 19RD estate, its another one.

Listing it on here for a friend. Its an 88/89 F reg 19RD estate with...wait for it....80k miles! Its barely run in, and runs like it. Very smooth, very responsive and nearly smokeless.

Its the darker red metalic colour....the one that was popular around that era on RD's and DTR's especially. Has original radio, interior and wheel trims. I haven't seen the car for a while myself, but I remember it being straight and pretty rust free.

Its been regularly serviced, and had new radius arm bearings last year. It has a tow bar fitted, which is a recent addition and was used to tow a small caravan twice.
Also has headlamp protectors :D

I believe you could buy this car for a sum less than three digits! Seriously, £70 or so would probably buy you the car. Thats how much its worth in scrap basically. The owner is a scrap metal merchant  But he does love BX's.

The reason for the cheap price? Well its not a bad car in any way (most 19RD's aren't) But it does need one or two jobs doing.

Basically: The MOT has either expired or is about to. The certificate went missing a while back, so assume it has none. No tax.

The timing belt is due for a change.

The clutch wants changing. I believe it still drives, but slips if you push it.

As far as I know, thats it! The car is in Fareham near Portsmouth. If you're interested, let me know.

If somebody does take this on, or considers it, as long as the last MOT was a computerised one you can get a copy from any test centre for a ten spot.
Could be well worth it because if the car only has a short MOT you could tax it and drive it back legally.

My mate went out today and went over it thoroughly and this is what he's said (literacy isn't his major  ):
PROPER sick i have to sell / get rid of this now, to day put a new battery on the old girl, glowed it twice and started 1st time! if it woundn't have started so easy i wouldn't have minded (never been the case tho).

looking round the car when taking the pics the down sides besides the clutch needing replacing is.

stone chips on bonit

some one or some thing has scrached randam small parts of paint work

front door speaker cover not on the door card (inside the car some were not broken)

rubber strip missing off front bumper and the one off the back as seen in pics

and the dent to the wheel arch and the door (like this when i bought it)

cant really think of any thing eles

the bigest thing that is wrong is i have to get rid of it :(

got a week then i will have to get rid of it the nasty way

any questions or if ant one wants to have a look then please email me.......

thanks mate for your help want to sell it rather then scrap it as i dont want to kill a good bx if it was rotten or had evry thing wrong with it that could be wrong with it i would have scrapped it last year.

it has a week then its off to the scrap yard in the sky

All in all, its tidy. That dent would push out nearly fully I'd say. Although the wheel trims have disapeared since I last saw it :?

To be honest, its really open to offers. I think he'd rather nigh on give it away than scrap it. He likes it, but has waaaaay too many cars.

As I said, let me know if you're interested.

Cheers

Blimey. Definitely looks like a solid enough old bus. I tell you what, if I was doing another banger rally this year, I'd bite your arm off. Bloody shame I'm not, really! :(

Reminds me of the true tale of 4 kids who got in dads car for a bit of gas inhalation. One in the back got bored waiting for his turn and lit his fag - which blew them all up!

I can assure any potential buyers this has not been the case with this car. It has never been blown to pieces by stoner kids.

Right chaps, heres the bottom line.

The car will sell for as little as £50. If it doesn't sell by Tuesday, it'll be flattened.

Be a shame if that got scrapped, looks far too good for a fate like that. Even if the worse came to the worse and it failed the test on loads of things it`d be a pity to bin so many useful spares.
Agreed you can`t save them all but surely someone is interested in taking it on?
