BX obs Jan 07

Post by jrdpod »

I've had a bumper month of spotting:
YXI 3216, BX TZD estate, white, Colchester, Essex.
G478 ENP, BX 16 TRS, Clapham, London SW.
G365 VYE, BX 19, seen London SE1.
J240 AOO, BX 16 Meteor, seen Colchester, Essex.
J85 COO, BX 16 RE lhd, white, Colchester, Essex.
J993 NKE, BX TGS, white, Lawford, Essex.
J512 LWM, BX estate, white, seen Lawford, Essex.
J438 SAN, BX 17 TGD, gold, Colchester, Essex.
J973 UVX, BX 16 Meteor, Colchester, Essex.
K552 KGW, BX estate, silver, Potters Bar, Herts.
K476 OPN, BX TZD estate, red, seen M25, near Potters Bar, Herts.
L502 NOO, BX TZD estate, green, seen A13 near Basildon, Essex.
L294 SRX, BX estate, grey, Arlesford, Essex.
All these are runners in good order, and not for sale.
Further to D29 WHJ in Colchester, this is a 19 RD estate.
Another BX to note, although only parts of it now exist is F856 OAN, a 17 RD which was a "donor" for my vehicles.
A BX which I wonder still exists is L283 LOO, a 19 RD that was with Cedric Coaches of Wivenhoe, Essex. It was new to the MD, and then became a staff car, before being replaced in 2003 by an Astra estate.
Two other obs of interest to BX Club members are:
B547 BVV, GSA estate, Silver, Wellingborough, Northants.
D787 BDX, CX estate, red, seen A12 near Colchester, Essex.
Regards
John Podgorski/jrdpod.

Impressive 'haul'. We still need to find time for a rendezvous sometime. I'll try and arrange something with CCC southern/Eastern too - as well (oviously) any BX club members/owners I can persuade...!

Meeting up at the Chequers, Matching Green (possibly one of the weekends they have a small Classic car meet there) interests me. Good food there too!

I'm interested in this one! Is this a runner, or did you see it in a driveway/ front garden? in the CCC we are always trying to keep tabs on surviving G series cars - I'll be in touch with the registrar of the G section forthwith!

Cheers,

Mark.

Phil, I'm up for a South East meet. I'm sure I can bring SWMBO and Adam too.

I suggest we do a Sunday at

http://thechequersmatchinggreen.co.uk/

- but not to sit down and eat in the restaurant (it's too expensive and generally, although the food is great, it can be 'patchy') but to have one of their nice bar menu items and sit outside, weather permitting.

There is a Classic and Sportscar meeting there on 1st July, but I think I want to meet before then, so watch out for a posting on the Events section of this Forum. I'll also visit the venue this or next weekend, take a picture or two and check out parking on the Green (just in case we decided to have a sarnie around the cars instead!)... Then, if we meet up and decide we like it we could go again for the show in July.

I'm not waiting 6 months for another meet. Let's get something going before then?

As I said, Oscar, I don't want to wait that long so let's meet sooner... Let's start a thread on 'Events' and see what we can agree :D
