2 new tyres

Post by mnde »

After running the BX for a short while with no spare following my puncture drama, I went earlier to a National outlet and got 2 new Uniroyals for the front - which I'm glad I chose since they seem to be well regarded as good wet weather tyres.

Anyway, matey finished fitting the new tyres then stuffed the Michelin spare in the boot. I asked for it to be re-fitted in the cradle - knowing that I'd dropped the hook off the thread while lowering the cradle in my haste to change the wheel before my job interview... and then had tried to re-thread it back on and got it stuck....

Well, after a half-hearted attempt to un-sieze it while looking in disgust at the grease that came off the thread onto his latex-gloved (!!) hands, he got in a huff and said, "well I can't do anything if it's stuck"... and walked off!!

I started to follow him because I thought he was getting a molegrip or something, but before I could say anything he was through the door and heading past the till into the back room. Of course, being me, I was shocked and rendered speechless, while I got out the card to pay the man at the desk for my tyres and "service". I really thought he could have offered to try and fix it for me. Perhaps I was expecting too much?

I now know where not to go for my tyres again.

Man that is crap service :x

You should put a complaint in to the head office and get a apology from them for that.

One thing I am going to say is that when it comes to Tyre service in NZ they do go that extra mile in fact they pride themselves on the service. How good well I went into get a puncture repaired. It was just the spare but they painted the Tyres and cleaned the windscreen as well and they did not charge me a Cent to fix the puncture.

Guess that just shows how service has deteriorated over the years in the Uk?
