GSF's probably your best bet, you'll get a Valeo unit and they are good.

I wouldn't even contemplate fitting a second hand clutch, it's a big enough job to do once and forget about it for a few years....

I certainly wouldn`t bother with a second hand one either, might go again in a very short space of time. It`s probably worth changing the octopus at the same time as this is much easier with engine out and another job that`ll last a few years.

I agree, If the box is coming out then a full clutch is the only way to go, after you have done the job you definitely will not be in a hurry to do it again, the last one I bought was about £65 for the full kit, dont waste money on remanufactured ones, I have seen them fail prematurely.

cambelt

Post by donna »

it might be better if i remove the engine aswell as the cambelt needs to be changed as it has not been for 7 years by the previous owner

If you have to do a timing belt too, then engine out is the easiest way.

I've done engine and box out, timing belt and clutch change, engine and box back in and driveable within a day.

Long day, but still a day.

it's easy enough to do the clutch, then do the belt with the engine in situ, although an engine hoist is always a useful tool to have...
