Fuel pipe

Just wondering if anyone knew the sizes of the metal fuel rails under the BX 16v? One of mine is proving miracles do still exsist by not leaking when there appears to be no metal left, and it needs changing :lol:

Havn't got any verniers and would rather have some new pipe to hand before removing the old one.

I got both sizes in copper from my local caravan place, on the TZD they were approx 8mm and 10mm outside diameter, yours will need to get to the filter so will be diffrent from the diesel ones I think.

If I remember they ain't that dear from a Cit dealer, something like 15-20 quid. Coated with grease they should outlast the car :wink:

Just found out via the 16v forum that they're also 8mm and 10mm. I'll replace with copper, they'll match the suspension pipe then :lol:

Metal ones only run the length under the car, the rest is taken up by rubber hoses either end.

One of your fuel lines has already been replaced, odd that they left the original pipe in the clips doing nothing though!!

The filter sits under the pump, the metal pipes are all much the same on any BX IIRC. and they easy to do!!

Just found out more info.....it seems using copper pipe is a bad idea and that the original pipes are only about £12 each from Citroen, so might aswell do those.

Something to do with a reaction to the petrol? I dunno, but it turns out the original pipes are only about £12 from Citroen.

The Citroen steel pipes may have collars formed on the ends which assist the sealing of the flexible pipes. It would be difficult to get a good seal on a smooth pipe - especially with a fuel injected car which will run at 36 psi!

Petrols leak fuel - diesels only admit air (at first)
