Sounds like a distress sale to me. I wonder what his insurance status was?

Tell you what though, I'll bet you could fit that engine into a BX

Yeah sounds good mate, if the guy responds I'll have a ganders at it over the weekend.

If it's destroyed it could yield some useful bits at least.
Although I've rebuilt some VERY smashed up cars, so with the BX spares mountain, this should be a doddle!

I never sleep Tim, so I wander by here on occasion in between watching the telly, fixing stuff and drinking beer....

Alas the car fell through. Removed from auction.

It's all a bit fishy, but I get the impression he wasn't getting the bids he wanted for it.

I have a fair idea of where this car is, so I'll be investigating tomorrow, and when I no doubt discover it's still there, I'll make a guy an offer.

He tells me it's just the door thats damaged, but again, somethings begining to smell REALLY OFF about this....

Wasn`t going to try and swipe it from under you Doc or bid against you, I was just curious to know exactly what the hell it is!

It is a very early P2 16v Billy! the drivers door is a write off, and I suspect theres more damage than has been mooted by the seller, who clearly thinks it's worth more than the auction was getting hence was removed.

If he wanted a set amount for it, then he should have put a reserve on it frankly. People like that pi$$ me off, especially since I'd have given him a fair price for what effectively is a written off, 17 year old car. And, unless it has MAJOR bore wear, it's 1905cc, not 2000cc.....

Oh, and it's not as "mint" as was made out either...

Even so, I'd still have had it....
Still, win some, lose some...

If he gets back to you Billy, then feel free mate, since it seems he longer wishes to speak to me anyway!

Last I`d heard was that he would send some pictures of it, then I notice it`s gone from eBay. I suspect some back door shennanigans and he`s flogged it already.
I`ll see what he says but he won`t get any change out of me if he turns out to be a f*ckwit.
