Dolmen grey.

Post by tom »

There are sixteen metallic greys listed for the BX, as a look at the BX-DIY
website will show. If the car is dolmen grey then it will be a dark colour
and the paint code will be ETB>

Gris Dolmen is known as Platinum, as in the colours of BX Bandits's 16v and Capri's TZD.

Not at all. A dolmen is a trilithon of dark grey stones shaped like a doorway. Platinum is a much lighter colour.

Oh. Well this car has the code ETB stamped on it, and is confirmed as being "Platinum" in the UK.

I'm trying to find more confirmation on it. Maybe the site we got the info from is wrong in thinking Gris Dolmen is Platinum?

But that TZD is definately Gris Dolmen, and its not a dark grey as we can see.

Whats bodie about anyway? :?:

curiouser and curiouser. The dark grey metallic car that Bernie, Adam and myself all owned at one time was listed as Dolmen grey. Have Citroen reused a paint code? Certainly the BX DIY site shows Gris Dolmen as being one of the darker greys in the "care" section of bodywork but I didn't see gris platine which is what I would expect to find.

The last 2 letters of the 5-letter code may be the key. Mine (somewhat lighter than the one above, and incomparably lighter than Tom's old ETB-coded car) is ETBMR on closer inspection. M=metallic ? R = 2-pack (16v forum list of codes says something about this)?

Was there ever a bad colour for the BX in the UK though? Before you say "ivory", I've got a soft spot for that one on the right car...
