perhaps its refering to the way in which the clutch cable begins to stretch to take up the extra distance as the throw out bearing starts to cut its way through the fingers of the clutch pressure plate! a GENIOUS idea!

Dont adjust them, replace them (they hadnt refined the plastic clip at the time ) and were still relying on sharpening parts under the bonnet to discourage maintainance
