Accumulator swap - help wanted

Post by mnde »

I'm expecting delivery of two new accumulators from ECP: one for the new GSA, which I can fit myself, and one for the BX that I need a little assistance with, if someone would be so kind :)

So, I'm looking for someone in the SE who I can bring my BX over to (within a reasonable distance from Guildford), who owns these things that I lack, in order to do an accumulator swap and ball-valve re-seating:

Jack
Axle stands
Brass punch + small hammer.

It could well be that it's the non-return valve alone that's causing the c. 5 seconds tick time... but I've got a new sphere anyway just in case.

Weekday evenings are best at the moment - I'm away next weekend and the weekend after! I finish work in Teddington at 5:30 of an evening.

Please PM me if you can help. I can provide beer tokens, but cash is v. tight at the moment, hence I'm not taking it to a garage!

Cheers!

Mark.

Hi Mark

I'm a bit far away for a weekday meet, but if you can sort a weekend, give me a shout.

If you come to Winchester I'll come along and lend a hand. I'm very good at making tea and pointing at things that look broken.

Brighton. Well, Hove, actually.

Not exactly "close" to Winchester but close enough to come and help Mark out! I think I owe him one (and he's a nice chap anyway and well deserving of our support).

I don't have a drive to work on or any of the tools he specifies, but I'm willing to lend a hand.

Thanks Kitch, and Stuart, for your kind words :D Thanks also to Oscar for your offer.

Winchester's no problem mate - and my BX is no slouch since feeding it on a diet of Shell V-Power. I wonder if we could have a quick look at the timing at the same time though? - as it still pinks a little if I gun it in 2nd or 3rd - not as bad as it was on 95 RON though!

What evenings are you two free? Subject to finding time to collect the spheres from my local post depot I can manage the evenings of 1-3 May, or any day the following week. I may be free the weekend of 12-13 May if needs be.

Would be nice to see this grey Mk1, all being well 8)

Cheers,

Mark.

I can do evening of 2/3 May, or all day Saturday 12th. Not 1st or 13th though (I'll be dancing instead ) :D

I don't really book things that far in advance, so my time is pretty much free right now, so any of those dates is fine.....whatevers best with you matey.
You're more than welcome to make use of anything you can while you're here mate.
Grey BX isn't here....when I do eventually get hold of it, the Doc is kindly picking it up and storing it. The aim is to get it sorted for CCC National and this BX 25 thing. We've only got a 19GT and a 16v here.
