Shiny GTi on eBay

Post by Philip Chidlow »

Now... check this one out... a decent enough set of pics and an OK - if slightly over-enthusiastic description... but what's with the engine? Isn't that actually a Peugeot lump? It's like no BX GTi inlet manifold I've seen... it's more like a Visa (205 too?) one.... any thoughts???

It has got rear head rests - but since when was a sound system worth the same once installed?

The manifold looks standard to me, it's exactley the same as every GTi I've owned, it's just got the cover plate fitted to it.
Smokes lots, because enough's enough already!

Far too many BX's, a bus, an ambulance a few trucks, not enough time and never enough cash...

I beg to differ. In all GTis I've owned (all no later than 1992 I admit) the inlet manifold was different. The oil filler comes up through the middle of two branches (which are themselves divided into two) This engine looks different. Unless the 8v unit was changed in the 1992 model year, this has had a replacement engine.

Yep,

That's the DKZ (XU9JAZ) type engine fitted to ALL Australian BX's from 1987 to 1993 except the BX16V.

That car is officially called a BX GTi Export. The engine, as JONKW said, has tighter emission controls and was originally designed for the Australian, Austrian and Swiss markets.

The Australian BX 19TZI saloon is simply a BX GTI Export with standard TZI trim.

Thats a lovely car and well worth the mony. Yep it has the late cat equiped 122 bhp engine and also a metal bonet. The only thing is the seller could have provided some pics of the areas the bx,s rust eg rear door shuts, inner wing etc. Nice colour as well but im still liking the olyimpic blue over silver. Hopefuly it should fetch a good amount. OH and one thing it has NOT got more torque than a 16v it just feels like it because the 8v torque is lower down the rev range than a 16v!!!!!!!
The citroen bx loves garages hates driving

bx16v p2 k reg red
bx16v p2 j reg green
