Slow or what?

Post by Philip Chidlow »

Anyone else experiencing a painfully slow forum today? Other sites are quick so it isn't my connection... in my opinion things have slowed up a bit since sponsorship.... but I guess that's a small price to pay... but today it's bad.

Yep...I'm suffering the same Forum "lag" Philip! :(
Only apparent on this site.
Having said that, it isn't always as slow.....seems to speed up to 'normal' at times.

Mines running in glue as per normal, not sure whether its bloody talktalk again or the plethora of security scans that seem to be running all the time nowadays. Mountainman, I have a Xantia TD which is rumbling at the front end, do you want rid of those driveshafts?

Yep, it's been painfully slow for a while, even on 8meg broadband...

I've noticed a distinct slowdown since the ecar banners went up. Wonder why?

Partially sorted mine, spyware doctor was running weekly scans on monday, tuesday, wednesday etc  as default setting too! and I have switched my browser to view cached images rather than downloading em every time.

I've just discovered that if I run IE 6 everything runs fine, it's only slow on IE7.... Cant work out why though....

Well said! Alas it was defo IE for me! IE7 wont even let me look in my inbox now! But IE6 is working just fine, maybe I need a new computer.... Either that or I need to delete some porn?!

Alas I renewed my car insurance about 3 weeks before the Ecar banners went up, so I'm stuck with my present insurers for now...

I find IE 7 (and 6 before it) much slower than Firefox but some sites will only display properly or work properly with IE.

What I have noticed over the last few days is a recurrence of the sign in requirement especially on Frenchcarforum but sometimes on here. Slightly annoying but nothing to get excited about.

Ok, for those of us (well me!) that know naff all about Firefox, what is it? Where can I get it? and, is it easy to use?

They may seem like dumb questions, but I've aleways used IE since I'm a slave to Microsoft, but if I can get something thats quicker than this I'm all for it!

Ta!

I use Firefox and it's good. But it doesn't matter what you use if the host server is slow.
