Le Scrapyard ( auto casse)

Post by toddao »

Was a holiday last Thursday here in Germany so took Friday off too and went in the van to France in search of a scrapyard. Found this place in Colmar two hours from here - 4 BXs - got the bits tho' there were no Mk.1s - 32 degrees - hot work!

That Leader doesn't look like scrapyard material IMHO. Probably has mechanical problems.

Shame how they lift them up with the crane, that grey bx looks like a Athena or the german equivilent anyway. A BX15? never heard of those.

One of my best memories from kast years French holiday was the chance to go round a scrapyard (sad or what). Load of old cars, not the usual 10 year old cars you find at yards over here.

Found 2 mint doors which I could have done with but I couldn't get the guy to part with them - I think he wanted them for himself but my Fench wasn't up to conversation....

A couple of these cars were very intact with all the little things that normally go first still there - lights, wing-mirrors etc. plus all trim. In this town of Colmar there are apparently five or six more scrappies but I was with my wife and she was tolerant enough.I tried to take the rear plastic panels out of the TRS for my TRD and almost succeeded without the right cheese wire type tool, then - crack! Will be returning to seek out the others. I get a real thrill walking into a new scrapyard and just wandering around :D

Arctic and I were just discussing this yesterday that when we were both younger we used to enjoy going to scrap yards as a form of entertainment, these days everything expensive and already removed!

Never see a BX in a scrappers over here now.
