Dont buy a Vax or u could be in for a shock

Post by MULLEY »

Got one of those wet cleaners & tried it out on both the BX's, i have previously cleaned these cars thoroughly with a dyson.

The colour of the water that was in the holding tank of the vax, well, put it this way, it was dark brown, urgh!!! But now i have nice clean cars :D.

What was worse though, was that the floor carpets which i expected to be horrendous, were quite a bit cleaner than the shite that came from the seats, especially the drivers side. I guess a combined total age of 30 years of never having been cleaned properly will do that. They now look a different colour & smell lovely.

Available for hire at club rates :D

Which model did you get Mulley and are they expensive? Quite fancy one (when I actually have any disposable income that is).

Cavmad, i got the V026 model which has the hose attachment device. I went into Curry's to have a look & that particular model was £150, so i bid on one on the bay of greed & got it for £60, p&p was £15, so £75 all in.

It is a graded one (whatever that may mean), a couple of minor probs with it, but have e-mailed the seller & they have with no quibbling sent me the replacement parts i requested gratis (which i got today, so very quick), so all in all very good.

If u look up Vax's on e-bay, there is one particular company that seems to specialise in them, thats who i got it from, so i'm very pleased so far.

Hope that helps?

It certainly does, thanks Mulley. Graded possibly means a catalogue or shop return but the seller sounds like a decent person and for the price you paid that seems like a bargain to me. I'll try and get some money together and get me one of those I think. Love to see the colour of the water if I do the seats in my truck, must be 20 years worth of all kinds of crap on the seats!

Put it this way, not only was the water dark brown, but there was a load of silt at the bottom of the tank, where did it all come from :D.

If there is a plug point down there i could bring it down & you could have a go at cleaning your car :)

When I did the seats on my 16v when I first got, bearing in mind I thought it was clean, the sludge at the bottom of the vax was disgusting!

My sludge had a comined age of about 30 years, & they looked quite clean, so gauld knows how mucky other peoples cars are.

What made me laugh was that the floor carpet was actually cleaner than the seats

Cheers Mulley, I have an extension lead somewhere amongst all my clutter I think.

Hmm I've wanted to Vax my cars for ages... I am loath to pay some oik valeter to do it; especially the GSA which has waffer theen seat material. Probably more effective than straight steam-cleaning?

Never tried steam cleaning, so cant vouch for how effective it may be, all i know is that the vax gets dirt out of all sorts of places where to the naked eye it looks clean.

Cavmad - did u want me to bring it down, wasnt sure if u were joking about the mains lead???

Mulley, it's very kind of you and many thanks. I wasn't being facetious I promise!
I'm going to get one pretty soon mate so whilst I thankyou for your kind offer don't go out of your way because I may have one in a matter of days.
Thanks once again.

EDIT: I wrote this post thinking you were talking about the National, but re-reading the thread I see no evidence of that idea at all................ Here goes:

<waves arms wildly>

If you're bringing it and there is electricity, can I have a go?

Snoopy smells pretty good, generally, but he is 20 years old and has had an arse upon his driver's seat for nearly 70000 miles.

Ah, slight snag there! I have a generator but won't be attending the show. However if anyone wants to borrow it they'll be more than wlecome.
