SUSPENSION PIPES

As most of you will probably know my 16v disgraced herself at the CCC Yesterday (Sunday) by popping one of her front to back pipes the minute I parked her up in the line up of BXs. Thanksfully Doc and Vanny replaced the offending pipe but commented "your pipes are f**ked" or words to that affect!

So the plan is now to get it completelty repiped by October (MOT Time), which is something that is beyond my abilities so if anyone can suggest where to get this work done, or if anyones happy to do it themslelves please let me know. I know it wont be that cheap as its a fairly major Job.

Any decent indy Cit garage should be able to do the front to rears in under two hours.

However, as per PM, I'm seriousley overstretched at the mo, and I have a booking time of about two months at the mo, BUT...

Hows this for a plan chaps?
Tim brings his valver to Stratford, with some kunifer and stainless unions, and we get dirty and replace them at the event?!

Lol thanks but enough members gave up there time on Sunday to my ailing 16v, without doing anymore work! ive sent the tax of today and put it away in the "naughty garage" where it will sit until I get the pipes done.

Is it front to back pipes that need doing then? how many are they, but once theer done they shouldt need doing again, I also have a replacement subframe for the front of mine as mines been welded up and has patches everywhere so would aim to get both jobs done at the same time.

There are four front to rear pipes, three 3.5mm and one 4.5mm.

They are BAD!
Theres a few more pipes round the back end, rear struts / brakes etc, they are less crusty but still pickled.

If you use kunifer pipes throughout with stainless unions they will outlive the car.
Although I wouldn't recommend doing the rear brake pipes in kunifer (the curly's tend to crack if made of kunifer).

As per PM, if you want the subframe done too, maybe allow an extra week! Since thats a long days job (at my pace!! ) so having a third weekend would be useful!

Ok Doc, you let me know when you want the car and how much the damage is and I will deliver it to you along with some paper with pretty pictures of the Queen on. As I said theres no rush at all.

dont forget the rear beam you'll be needing!

If you want that beam of my scrapper then i can probably get it galved and plastic coated for very very little money (like £50 cash) which might well be worth the money, and you'll want to replace that rear panel as an urgency and rebuild the chassis leg(s)

its probably a days work for doc, or 6 days if i help

Ok vanny put me down for the rear beam, let me know when you want it picking up and paying for, again its all down to Doc as I dont want to over load him! I can get the rear panel welded in at anytime as the its ok for now.
