ZX Front Door wanted
ZX Front Door wanted
I need a driver's front door for our ZX 5 door. I'm in Southampton and will travel 100 miles or so to collect it.
Ideally white - not bothered about glass etc as will use what I have.
As far as i know the only real difference is between 3 and 5 doors - ie basically all 5 doors are the same.
Fair price paid of course.

Jeremy, bloke local to me has a white ZX that is mechanically, erm, 'worn'. Could ask him what he's doing with it (he wanted a silly price the other week when he asked me how much it was worth to me as scrap) if you like? I realise the distance may be a killer but could meet up by the M6 somewhere if successful.
Vauxhall apologist.
Thanks all, one at Battle (Hastings!) and one at Lancing - both cheap but silver or something similar
Thanks Billy - think I'm going to sleep on tis and decide in the morning. Do I fancy spraying one? Will my kit do it - or as its the wife's car and she damaged it - do I leave it silver!
I forced it shut the other day and now the catch is caught and I can't open it! - looks like a grinder job which I don't mind if I have a spare!

I'll have a word with my mate, he has a 5 door white volcane, but I dont know what he's doing with it, if the doors available it'll be cheap and near Stroud, although collection will be difficult untill the flood water disperses...
Smokes lots, because enough's enough already!
Far too many BX's, a bus, an ambulance a few trucks, not enough time and never enough cash...

Sounds interesting Doc - if its nice etc I could be interested in a NS rear as well as ours has a small dent that I've never bothered about.
Incidentally I'm sure you know that ZX door hinges have a grub screw which sticks out at right angles to the hinge pin and secures it - so removal is remove check strap, undo wiring connector (strange bayonet fitting - could be a plug - rotates 1/2 turn or something) then remove grub screws and lift off. - Apparently no pins to extract!
ZX are actually rather well made - which is the problem I have - the door has been hit from behind and has moved forward. No problem I thought - swing on it and it'll bend and go back into shape - No Way - It won't move - and now its stuck - and while I could no doubt eventually get it open and take it off and bash the hinge panel to shape - I'm going to damage something somehwere - so another one seems the easiest thing to do.
She'll have to keep it for a few more years when its done! - Still she likes it and its only done 92,000 and it is a nice thing if you're not in a hurry or want to get in a tight parking place..

Yeah, I'm well versed with doot removal on ZX's mate, I know lots of awful drivers!
Although TBH I usualy use a gas axe...
I seem to remember the body was very very good on the volcane, I'll be seeing my mate in work tonight so I'll ask what he's doing with it, it's been sat up for a couple of ears so I cant see it flying again, it might be the encouragement he needs to scrap it!
I'll get back to you tomorrow, well later, but much later tonight!

No worries mate. I'm fairly sure he is now in Blackpool.
I've not had a phone call to say he's broken down at least!
Hopefully he'll be back and I'll buy him a pint.
*IF* I can actually get to the farm (floods yadda yadda yadda) I should be able to have the doors off tomorrow..

My apolagies Jeremy. My mate isn't scrapping his Volcane. Or at least not that one. He's scrapping his other Volcane, which is a three door, so is naff all use to you.
However, I'll have a word with "Dan's" in Bridgwater and see if they have a good white door if you want?
Oh, one other thing, is it polar white, or alpine white?
