He's not going to get much for that, with that well-written, clear, concise and accurate description. Why are people so dumb? He could earn himself an extra couple of hundred quid just by polishing the paint and bumpers and writing a couple of hundred words instead of less than one line.

Got me eye on this one as it isn't all that far away. Out of interest though how do you bring up coloured plastic bumpers like on this one, something that has made me curious for a while.

My old red RD suffered from the famous pink trim problem.

There are various treatment products out there but the cheap ones don't work at all; the Simoniz spray-on bumper treatment costs under a fiver but lasts about 24 hours.

I know a guy who's a professional valet and he gave my RD's pink bumpers a going over with Mer Bumper Gel. That lasted about two weeks and he assured me that eventually, if you re-apply the polish every week or two, the colour would return permanently.

I bought some Meguiars bumper and trim restorer and followed his advice. I didn't keep the car for long enough to know if it would last forever, but it did seem to be lasting a little longer each time. Before and after pictures here.

Cheers for that Stuart, I use that gel stuff on my Xantia bumpers, I just wasn't sure you could use it on coloured plastic as well, now I know... i'm sure someone on here mentioned something about a hairdryer before, which confused me a little, then I might be going mad.

Nice website as well, makes for some interesting reading and I didn't know the GT had gone! When I read about insurance money I thought it was from something else for some reason, thats absolutely gutting, a bit late I know but a real shame to hear loss of such a nice car :(

Apparantly you can use a hairdryer on them which is supposed to produce excellent results.

I should say that I've never, ever polished a vehicle before

But the time I spent on the RD was well worth it - it looked like a right old banger when I got it, but a few quid on products and a few hours spent polishing (and vacuuming it out, it was filthy inside) probably added about £100 to its value had I put it on eBay.

Right, asked this guy about rust as pictures aren't clear enough to see if there is any and he says the only rust is on the rear wheel arch, I then asked how bad it was and got this reply

'it was just bubbling until my wife got hold of it now it needs filling with a bit of fiberglass and filler which i will do before it is sold and no i do not know when the cam belt was done as i have only had the car two months.'

What do we think? Being a virgin to BX ownership i'm not sure if this will be chancing things a bit?

Hmm, here's what would worry me: he hasn't had it long, it looks dog rough, it'll need a cambelt, I'd be suprised if the only rust was on the wheelarch (what are the door shut areas/hinges, inner front wings etc like?), the pictures are crap, the description is crap and worse of all it's a private listing which means you can't tell if there's any schill bidding going on.
I reckon £125 tops, anymore than that and it's just not worth the risk.

Ahh didn't realise it was a private listing, I can't stand that, completely pointless unless your being dodgy like you said.

Thats the final nail in the coffin for me I think, I'll leave it to someone else to deal with...as ever the search continues.

If there isnt any history with the car as to what work has been done, i'm afraid you would need to budget to get the work done, & believe you me it adds up to a lot unless you can do the work yourself. There are better examples out their, so i would leave well alone.....
